C-MAN'S ANGELS BOW OUT OF PLAY-OFFS
The Angels made it to the second round of the play-offs, but that's
where the Peter Principal kicked in, as they lost both games, ending
their exciting season.
In the semi-finals they lost to the Athletics, 9 - 8, even though they
were up at one point, 7 - 0. After 3 near-perfect innings, Colin gave
up 4 runs (3 earned) in the fateful 4th inning, and from
there the Angel defense caved in. Buddy and Scott each had 2 hits in
the losing cause. In the consolation game, the White Sox blasted them,
17 - 8. Angels pitching gave up 15 walks and hit 2 batters, and the
Sox scored 11 runs from these freebies alone. The Angels had 6 hits in
the finale' , as Colin chipped in with a long double, a bases-loaded walk
and 2 RBI's. Other team hits included singles from Marcus, Tyson,
Josh Harrison, Scott and Lucas.
In a related item, the sports world was shocked to learn Coach Mike's
contract was surprisingly extended for the entire 2013 season by team
owner, Throckmorton P. Finch, as he held a news conference after the
Angels loss from a hot tub on an oil rig in Dallas, Texas.
Details were not reviewed, but a raise was not anticipated as part of
the new deal. Anyway, congratulations Coach Mike....I think !!!!
PEE-WEE'S SUFFER SAME SEMI-FINAL FATE
The White Rock Pee-Wee nine ran into a buzz-saw in the play-off
semi-final game losing to Abbotsford in 9 innings, 14 -12.
Sam Shoemaker started in fine form, striking out the side in the first.
But 2 walks and a double ended his night in the second, when a
sore arm forced him from the game early. Ryan took over and quickly
struck out the first batter he faced, but then klunked two hitters
successively, forcing in a run. A base on error and a single resulted
in a 5-run inning. The teams then shared the lead several different
times before Abbotsford put up 2 runs in the top of the second extra
inning,
spoiling an overall fine effort from Dawson on the mound. Sam, Josh and
Gavin each chipped in with 2 hits for the game, and Ryan walked twice,
scored twice and added a single to RF, in a losing cause. Liam and
Dawson also had hits, but it wasn't enough to offset a good-hitting
Abbotsford team, who totalled 13 hits in the wild game.
SAMMIE'S THUNDER FIGHT RAIN AND GOOD-HITTING OPPONENTS IN WEEK-END
TOURNAMENT
The fast-pitch softball tournament over the Father's Day week-end was
interrupted by the weatherman on Saturday, as all games were cancelled.
The Thunder played 3 games on Sunday, however, opening up the tourney
with a 14 - 0 drubbing of their opponents, and a mercy win. However,
they got beat in similar fashion in game # 2, losing 8 - 0. Then, in
Game #3, their bats were again silenced and they lost, 7 - 2. Sam
overall went 1 for 5 in the tourney, adding one BB and 1 HP, and
continues to get "good metal" on the ball, while playing a smooth 1B
and/ or CF. GO THUNDER !!!

Hi JD;
...Aaaaaaaa...you really have to love the Cubs to appreciate the smell they are generating everyday they play. To say they STINK is, of course, an understatement. The questions are many. What is essentially wrong? I have NO idea. They do have a few stand out players and their pitching should be dynamite-in-action but........................................!!!!
Yeah, I like Castro. He went 4 for 5 yesterday. In the wings is a guy named Rizzo---now playing AAA ball---who is batting .356 with 23 homeruns. Maybe when they call him up he will be the missing piece that puts the rest of the team in unison...As I keep harping at you: You gotta have hope...Miles and miles of hope...And that ain't bad!!!!!
...But 23 games under .500 and the season isn't half over? Obviously, proof that there is NO GOD! Why would any God of mercy punish Cubbie fans for 100 years? Talk about hell for an eternity....

THEY'VE WON A FEW. LOST AGAIN TODAY, THOUGH. SORRY...OLD MAN, BUT
YOUR BELIEF SYSTEM IN THE CUBS....AND GOD... NEED SUPPORT.
RIZZO, AS OF TODAY, IS THE ONLY CUB OVER .300, AND I BELIEVE HE HAS A
LTD NUMBER OF AB's. CASTRO IS DOWN WHERE HE S/B....AT .282 (BUT, I
CONCUR...A GOOD BB PLAYER, NONETHELESS). BARNEY, THE ONE ON THE CUBS,
AND NOT TV, ...ALTHOUGH AT TIMES I MIX THEM UP......IS AROUND .262.
OUCH.
