Daniel Gould to Bob Wilson

Hi Bob;

Okay, I'll check on this website.

But, again, you are avoiding any reply to my suggestion that you do a workshop or the 10 week graduate course at SU. What are you afraid of? Maybe it will give you more insight into everything.

Sincerely;

Dan

Daniel Gould to Bob Wilson

Hi Bob;

I have checked out the John Templeton Foundation and I have come away thinking that this is certainly the right direction to go in.

In reading through excerpts from JT's three books (1997, 2000 and 2002), I note the following: "...to explore the possibility that developing a humble approach in theology, which encourages research and engages carefully with science, may be even more fruitful than endeavors to reinvigorate inherited systems of thought..." "Each time new laws are discovered by scientists, we potentially can learn a little more about divinity..." "All of nature reveals something of the creator. And god [sic] is revealing himself [sic]  more and more to human inquiry...through the astonishingly productive research of modern scientists." I can't argue with any of these position because I am in total agreement. I think the points made here are analogous to what I have said already on the matter.

However, as to your approaching them at this stage to "vet" your present position I would caution against it. You are not ready! Have you read the three books by JT?  I suggest you do so so that you can formulate a proposal, to them, that fits not only JT's way of thinking but what his way of thinking  is trying to encourage. And, again, couple this intellectual exercise by doing at least a workshop at SU; it will only make your "contentions" stronger...if not more clear.

I think it may be more serendipity than coincidence that the foundation is located in Philadelphia. You did your course work in computer technology---courtesy of RCA---at Cheery Hill not far from the city of brotherly love. I recall you saying, at the time, about the program, "It's hard! I've never worked so much in my life!." Well, it may not be as hard this time, but it is time for you, once again, to apply yourself and do a bit of intellectual work if you are so concerned with what you want to tell the world.

Keep me posted...

Sincerely;

Dan
