TEFAF New York Fall 2018: A Selection of the Top Five Galleries by a Fellow Artist

Our loyal readers keep asking us to expand the selection to other cities apart from London. The difference from other selections is that the research and final decision is being made by a practising artist. Many other factors apart from aesthetics, investment and presentation takes place such as how influential and respected is the artist in the contemporary Arts scene and that makes it rather unique. We jumped to the other side of the pond and, here we are, at the TEFAF New York Fall 2018, which just opened yesterday and will continue until Wednesday the 31st of October in the historical Park Avenue Armory.

The international artist Ida Ivanka Kubler, based in New York, kindly agreed to our request. Ivanka Kubler uses silk cocoons, and other recycled materials, as an Abstract Expressionist painter would use a brush, so we were intrigued what would catch her eye. The Fair, which features 93 of the world’s leading art and antiques dealers, including 10 new exhibitors, showcases top quality, strictly-vetted works from a variety of collecting areas including fine and decorative art from antiquity to 1920, as well as rare books and manuscripts, jewelry, portrait miniatures, arms and armor, and much more. Ida was spoilt by choice.
